The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles picked up a win at Mercer Island Grounds, knocking off the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 5-4. Starting pitcher Shan-tang Yang played a key role in the triumph. Mercer Island goes to 2-3.

Mercer Island won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Albert Poe on the mound for Ft. Polk South, third baseman Vic Coates hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Screaming Eagles fans to their feet.

"It was a test of wills," said Ricardo Vargas, the Mercer Island skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
