Tight Tilt Goes to Torch, 2-1
|
Torch Field was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The Torch faced a stiff challenge from Niagara Falls pitcher Júlio Perea, but persevered to claim a win at Torch Field. The final score was 2-1. Perea went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winner in relief was Raza Jadoon. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0.
The Torch got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Ieremia Mohala. For the game, Mohala went 1-1 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Mancelona a 2-1 lead.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Mohala.
Niagara Falls falls to 3-4.
