The Ithaca Fighting Imps got a sterling performance from pitcher Ánibal Fernández, but the Squirrel Hill Pierogis still prevailed, 4-3. Fernández threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Squirrel Hill reliever Bhunandana Lecamwasam picked up the win to move to 4-1. Luis Silva suffered the loss. Jack Herer converted his 5th save in 7 tries.
Squirrel Hill used the timely hitting of Freddie Cupp to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pierogis on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Cupp told a Squirrel Hill Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Squirrel Hill is now riding a 3-game win streak.
