Fighting Imps Rally For Late Win Over Atoms
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps beat the Bethesda Atoms, 4-2, at Atoms Field. The win was due in part to first baseman Andrew Potter, who went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Chris Johnson, who threw 93 pitches over 7.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits. Picking up the save was Luis Silva, his 3rd.
Potter had a timely hit for Ithaca in the top of the eighth. With Bethesda trailing 2-1, he turned a first pitch curveball into a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season, making it 4-2, Ithaca.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Ithaca manager Gary Thomas. "It's usually not just one thing."
Ithaca now sits in 5th place in the Silver AA at 45-46.
