Guinea Pigs Beat Visiting Cangrejos Fantasmas, 3-0
|
Gwinnett Guinea Pigs starter Jeff Morehead turned in a top-notch performance against the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas at Experimental Stadium. The result was a win for the Guinea Pigs, 3-0. Morehead, now 11-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Francisco Díaz was credited with the save, his 24th in 27 tries.
With no one out in the bottom of the fourth, George Mayes barreled up a fastball from Kevin Brown. The result was a solo home run, putting the Guinea Pigs in front, 2-0.
"I really like what we did out there today," Mayes said after the game.
The Guinea Pigs have an impressive 58-18 record.
