Hensley Excels, But Polar Bears Win
|
Akron got a terrific game from left fielder Art Hensley. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Billings, 10-8. Hensley was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Todd Jackson picked up the save for Billings, his 13th of the year. The Polar Bears now own a record of 36-40.
Elijah Schneider hit a 3-run home run off Bill Williams in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Polar Bears ahead, 10-8. In addition to the homer, Schneider had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Marvin Nelson.
