Starting pitcher Wes Johnston pitched well enough to help the Squirrel Hill Pierogis beat the Billings Polar Bears, 4-3. The Pierogis improved to 31-43.

Squirrel Hill relied on the hitting of Tao Kaukini to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pierogis on top, 4-1. For the game, Kaukini had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Wes was able to execute his pitches," said Squirrel Hill manager Marcos Costa. "Simple as that."
