Atoms Fall Short, 5-4, at Chesapeake
The Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas picked up a win at Ghost Crab Park, knocking off the Bethesda Atoms, 5-4. On the mound for Chesapeake was right-hander Thomas Rice, who played a pivotal role in the win. Rice, now 7-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 4 runs. The Atoms, now 27-46, have lost 4 straight.

The Cangrejos Fantasmas got a big hit from designated hitter Manuel Pérez. In the bottom of the fifth, Pérez pounded a solo home run to left-center. His 10th home run of the season put the Cangrejos Fantasmas ahead, 5-3.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Chesapeake manager Brian Cameron. "It's usually not just one thing."
