The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs downed the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 9-6. The hitting star was designated hitter Chandler Schroeder. Schroeder was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Guinea Pigs. Gwinnett reliever François L'Écuyer was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Javier Gómez. Francisco Díaz notched his 22nd save in 23 chances.
Gwinnett took the lead on Schroeder's 4th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which came against Kirby Perkins in the bottom of the seventh, made the score 9-6, Gwinnett.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Gwinnett manager Cody Jaeckel.
The winning streak has now reached 9 games for Gwinnett.
