Polar Bears Continue Skid, Thanks to Valdéz, Blues
The Barton Springs Blues trumped the Billings Polar Bears, 9-4, at Blues Field. Barton Springs designated hitter Leonardo Valdéz was terrific. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Urs Bilderbeek earned the save, his 2nd. The losing streak for Billings has now reached 5 games.

With Barton Springs leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Valdéz hit a 3-run home run off Billings hurler Juan Hernández. It was the 10th home run of the season for Valdéz and put his team ahead, 5-0.

"I like our mindset right now," said Barton Springs manager Joe Kehoe.
