Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Squirrel Hill Pierogis got the win.
The Toledo Saboteurs got a sterling performance from pitcher Darwin McGinnity, but the Squirrel Hill Pierogis still prevailed, 4-3. McGinnity threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The current losing streak for Toledo has reached 10 games.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Squirrel Hill trailing 3-2, Stu Roberts hit a cutter from Cristo Sánchez for a 2-run home run, giving the Pierogis the walk-off win.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Roberts told the Squirrel Hill Bulletin.
