The Akron Blimps had to overcome a big game from Billings left fielder Stan Daniels to leave Goodyear Hanger Dome with a victory. And they did, winning 11-7. Daniels was 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. António Gallegos got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. Bill Williams finished to wrap up his 1st save.

Aberdeen, Mississippi-born Keith Garner came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Blimps trailing 6-5, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Akron on top.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Akron skipper Chua-kah Liu.

Akron has now won 7 straight.
