The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs picked up a win at Experimental Stadium, knocking off the Akron Blimps, 6-4. On the mound for Gwinnett was right-hander Homer Sanders, who played a pivotal role in the win. Sanders went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-1. Francisco Díaz got the save, the 5th for him this season.

Making an impact for the home team was Freek Derksen. In the bottom of the third, the 24-year old right fielder had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 2-0, Guinea Pigs.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Sanders.
