Syracuse Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Syracuse Storm bested the Alameda Airmen by a score of 8-5, with third baseman Remi Luttini getting the main credit. On the day, Luttini was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Storm. Syracuse reliever Júlio Zúñiga picked up the win, while Rich Cheyney took the loss for Alameda. The loss drops the Airmen to 0-3.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Luttini hit a fastball from Kevin Rietmulder for a 3-run home run. The Storm, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
In postgame comments to the Syracuse Observer, Luttini said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
