Providence Gets 3-1 Win
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Providence Pilgrims and the Billings Polar Bears. Providence won it, 3-1. Providence starter Lando de Ruijter was in command. Lodovico Tadini collected save number 7. The win puts Providence at 8-8.
Providence used a well-timed hit by Abdoulaye Shaik to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Pilgrims ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Shaik called the win "a team effort."
