Squirrel Hill starter Mané Garrincha put a stranglehold on the Gwinnett offense. The left-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Pierogis to a 3-0 win. Jack Herer sewed up the save, his 1st. Gwinnett drops to 7-5.

The Pierogis got a lift from second baseman Tao Kaukini, who in the top of the fourth hit a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Pierogis on top, 1-0.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Kaukini told the Squirrel Hill Bulletin.
