In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

The timely hitting of Melvin Thomas helped the Hollywood Shredders down the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 7-4. Thomas went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Shredders. Hollywood reliever Branlyn Jaraba picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Jeffery Meyers shouldered the loss.

Hollywood took the lead on Thomas's 6th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came against Jeffery Meyers in the bottom of the eighth, made the score 6-3, Hollywood.

"This is truly a great team to play with," Thomas said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."

Northern Virginia has now lost 4 consecutive games.
