3-1 Loss Deepens Westwood Funk
|
Tacoma got a first-rate effort from pitcher Fernando Ramírez, who frustrated Westwood hitters en route to a 3-1 Fur Traders triumph at Ballpark of Tacoma. The winning pitcher was Ramírez, now 1-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. Juan Gutiérrez earned the save for Tacoma, his 18th of the year.
The Fur Traders got a big at-bat from designated hitter Rick Smith. For the game, Smith was 2-3 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Tacoma a 1-0 lead.
"I felt good up there," said Smith. "I saw the ball well."
The slumping Sixshooters have dropped 6 in a row.
