Miners Rally For Late Win Over Thunder
Baby Thunder Dome was the site for M3L Double A action featuring the St. Petersburg Thunder and Marquette Miners.

The Marquette Miners topped the St. Petersburg Thunder, 7-3, in M3L Double A action at Baby Thunder Dome. The game was highlighted by the performance of Marquette pitcher Anastasio Ayala. Marquette reliever Ambrose McClure picked up the win, upping his record to 1-4. Bobby Teune shouldered the loss.

Marquette used the timely hitting of Rodrigo Martínez to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Miners on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Ayala.

The win gives Marquette a season record of 44-44.
