Yakima Hops starter Thomas Rivers turned in an exceptional performance against the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats at Hops Park, resulting in a Yakima win, 6-1. Rivers, now 4-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Yakima has run its win streak to 8 in a row.

The Hops got an important contribution from left fielder Don Barnes, who in the bottom of the third knocked a 2-0 sinker into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Hops ahead, 4-0.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Barnes said.
