Irving took on Lancaster in front of a lively crowd.
The Irving Blue Sox racked up a win at Farmers Field, bumping off the Lancaster Farmers, 6-2. Jun-soo P'il, who started for Irving, pitched effectively for his team. The winning pitcher was P'il, now 4-4. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4.
The result might have been different, had it not been for Mannus Coppens, the Irving designated hitter. Coppens had a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Sox ahead, 3-2. For the game, Coppens had 1 double and 1 single in 2 at-bats.
In comments to the Irving Today, Coppens insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
The 7th-place Blue Sox now have a win-loss record of 27-29.
