Miners Come Up Short at Lancaster, 3-2
|
Lancaster pitcher Vincent Hansen did his part in helping his team beat the Marquette Miners, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Hansen, now 1-7. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Wu-shun Feng closed the game out for Lancaster, earning his 1st save.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Farmers sent 19-year-old pinch hitter Akihiro Ito to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Lancaster on top, 3-1.
Ito called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The win has Lancaster at 22-32.
