|
The Nova Scotia Leviathan relied on the hitting of first baseman Gareth Kvernoey to stop the San Mateo Dirty Reds, 4-0. For the game, Kvernoey was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Nova Scotia reliever Gary Podell picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jorge González took the loss. At 35-39, the Leviathan find themselves in 6th place in the Premier League.
Nova Scotia used a well-timed hit by Pancho Hernández to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Leviathan ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
Hernández attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
