The Miners grabbed a win, 4-3, at Marquette Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from St. Petersburg pitcher Manuel Villalobos. Villalobos went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Gianlorenzo Albertini, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Bernardo Hernández earned the save for Marquette, his 9th of the year.

Had Jeffrey Dale not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Dale hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Miners.
