Miners Collect 2-1 Win Over Sixshooters
|
Marquette starter Ken Wright put a stranglehold on the Westwood offense. The left-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Miners to a 2-1 win. Marquette goes to 14-20, Westwood to 14-20.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Nick Thomas came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Westwood pitcher Jimmy McDonald, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Marquette on top, 2-1.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Thomas.
