Thunder Edge Hops, 1-0
|
Yakima got a terrific performance from pitcher Cedric Carey, but it wasn't enough to beat the St. Petersburg Thunder. St. Petersburg won the Baby Thunder Dome contest, 1-0. Carey threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Nicolas Cernin got the win, improving to 2-3. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up no runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Miguel Moreno collected save number 10.
Early in the game, shortstop Alejandro Suárez had a solo home run for St. Petersburg. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Thunder on top, 1-0.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Yakima skipper Gerald Clark.
St. Petersburg raised its record to 20-12 with the win.
