Highlanders Fall Short, 6-5, at Irving
Getting a good performance from first baseman Manuel Usedo, the Irving Blue Sox defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 6-5. Usedo was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Blue Sox. Chin-yau Tu earned the win to go to 1-2. He allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. The victory puts Irving at 11-20.

Usedo contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Irving in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 5-3, Usedo took a cutter from Vic Cox and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Blue Sox to leap in front, 6-5.

Usedo told a Irving Today reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
