Farmers Shut Out Highlanders, 7-0
|
With center fielder Jack Lazarus leading the charge, the Lancaster Farmers defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 7-0, at Asheville Park. Lazarus was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Lancaster reliever Jeff Petersen got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Scotty Mays was tagged with the loss. The Farmers, at 13-16, sit in 8th place in the Menard's AA.
It could have been a different outcome for Lancaster, had it not been for Greg Green, the 24-year old right fielder . Green contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put Lancaster up, 2-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Green said.
