Tight Tilt Goes to Highlanders, 4-3
|
The Asheville Highlanders did just enough to sneak past the Tacoma Fur Traders, 4-3, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Asheville pitcher Scotty Mays, in particular, had a standout performance. Tacoma drops to 5-4.
Marty Johnson was a prime contributor to the Asheville win. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. In the top of the fourth with two out, the 24-year old second baseman hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 4-0, in favor of the Highlanders.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Tacoma manager Ángel Rosa.
