Patriots Saddle Dirty Reds with 5-2 Loss
|
Boston first baseman Jorge Martínez helped his team beat the San Mateo Dirty Reds, 5-2. Martínez, who is the 9th-best prospect in the Patriots organization, went 1 for 3 for the Patriots. Bertrand Scotton came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Luke Corner sewed up the save, his 1st.
Boston used the bat of Carlos Rivera to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Patriots ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I thought we played a nice game," Martínez told the Boston Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
With the win, the Patriots have a record of 28-39.
