Austin pitcher Dave Newman did his part in helping his team beat the Syracuse Starks, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The victory puts Austin at 33-59.
It could have been a different outcome for Austin, had it not been for Omer van de Linde, the 33-year old catcher . van de Linde contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put Austin up, 4-0.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Newman said.
