White Excels, But Squirrel Monkeys Win
|
The inspired effort of Norfolk right fielder Donald White was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-6, to the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys. White was 2 for 2 with 2 home runs, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The 5th-place Pajaritos have lost 5 consecutive games.
Syracuse used the bat of Stone Wright to capture the win. The third baseman jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"I felt good up there," said Wright. "I saw the ball well."
