Black Mambas Defeat Blitzkrieg, 6-1
|
The Austin Black Mambas topped the Port Huron Blitzkrieg, 6-1, in USSL Triple A action at Mamba Park. The standout performance belonged to Austin pitcher and Villa Fundación, Dominican Republic, native Miguel Ávila. Ávila, now 4-7, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The Blitzkrieg, at 39-48, have lost 4 straight games.
The Black Mambas got a lift from third baseman Rick Pawlowicz, who in the bottom of the second hit a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Black Mambas on top, 2-0.
Pawlowicz told a Austin News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
