Monongahela pitcher Ángel Santingo did his part in helping his team beat the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The first-place Monsters have won 8 in a row.

Monongahela left fielder Shuan-yan Bu contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball into left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 16th hit of the season and put the Monsters ahead, 4-1.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Santingo said.
