Black Mambas Come Up Short at Monongahela, 3-2
|
The Monongahela Monsters had to overcome a fine effort from Austin pitcher Felipe López to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Timber Hawks Ballpark. López went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Jeremy Harness, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 3-1. Félix González notched his 18th save in 24 chances.
The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Monsters were trailing 2-1. Stu Roberts delivered a two-out 2-run home run for Monongahela, catapulting his team into the lead.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Monongahela manager Sancho Tornero.
Monongahela has now won 4 straight, while the Black Mambas have lost 3 in a row.
