The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys defeated the Austin Black Mambas, 5-2, in USSL Triple A action at Mamba Park. Syracuse pitcher Tommaso Cugnoni had a standout performance. Cugnoni picked up the win for Syracuse, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 7-0. The Squirrel Monkeys, now 46-28, have won 5 in a row.

Syracuse used the timely hitting of Jeremy Clifton to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Cugnoni told the Syracuse Citizen.
