Squirrel Monkeys Take Nail-Biter Over Monsters
In a low-scoring affair between the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys and the Monongahela Monsters, pitcher Steve Gourin was the difference between victory and defeat. The Syracuse right-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 Squirrel Monkeys win. Harold Hunter, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The second-place Squirrel Monkeys have won 9 in a row.

The Squirrel Monkeys procured the win, in large part because of first baseman Alanzo Gaufi. In the bottom of the 13th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Gaufi said.
