Extra-Inning Win by Pride Over Blitzkrieg
|
The Port Huron Blitzkrieg got a superb performance from pitcher Steve Sanford. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hartford. The Pride won the game, 6-3. Sanford threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. César Cruz earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. His record is now 2-4. Francisco Díaz earned the save for Hartford, his 12th.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Yoritomo Sato came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Port Huron pitcher Jim Hicks, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hartford on top, 4-3.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Sato.
With the win, the Pride have a record of 29-29.
