Monsters Take Down Flyers, 5-2
|
The Monongahela Monsters topped the Pennsauken Flyers, 5-2, in USSL Triple A action at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Monongahela pitcher Eugene Kelly. Kelly got the win, improving to 6-4. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Kelly allowed 2 runs. With the win, Monongahela pushed its record to 34-23.
Cristo López drove in one run for Monongahela. The 28-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Ethan Gilbert. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Kelly.
