Squirrel Monkeys Make It 4 Straight with 5-2 Win

The Forest City Warriors and Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys delighted fans at The Zoo in Syracuse.
Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Jesús Encarnación, the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys defeated the Forest City Warriors, 5-2. Encarnación went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Squirrel Monkeys. Steve Gourin picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 3-3. Earning his 15th save of the year was Chris Edwards.
With Syracuse leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Encarnación hit a cutter from Sun Tah for a 2-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 3-0.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Encarnación said.
The 8th-place Warriors have lost 5 straight games.
