Blitzkrieg Beat Monsters, 8-6
|
The Port Huron Blitzkrieg bested the Monongahela Monsters by a score of 8-6, with designated hitter Ruhinda Kirkconnell getting the main credit. On the day, Kirkconnell went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Blitzkrieg. Dennis Henry got the win, improving to 2-6. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Jim Hicks closed it out for his 9th save.
With Port Huron leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Kirkconnell hit a fastball from Clayton Thomas for a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Blitzkrieg ahead, 5-0.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Kirkconnell.
The 'W' lifts Port Huron's record to 24-25.
