Austin and Syracuse duked it out and the Black Mambas came out victorious.

The Austin Black Mambas topped the Syracuse Starks, 5-3, in USSL Triple A action at Mamba Park. The standout performance belonged to Austin pitcher and New Britain, Connecticut, native Dave Newman. Tadayuki Ito finished to wrap up his 2nd save.

The Black Mambas had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 5-3, Austin, with no one out. Syracuse, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Javier Seco dug in at the plate, but on a 1-0 fastball, he hit into a double play.

The Black Mambas raised their record to 15-28.
