The Austin Black Mambas beat the Forest City Warriors, 5-2. Austin pitcher and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native Ryan Riley led the way. Riley, now 1-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 10, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Tadayuki Ito got credit for the save for Austin. It was his 1st of the year.
The Black Mambas benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the fifth. With Jason Portillo at bat and Austin leading 2-1, the Forest City miscue allowed Austin to plate 1 and take the lead, 3-1.
"We did a lot of things right," said Riley.
The Black Mambas now have a record of 14-28.
