Monsters Lose, 2-1, to Syracuse

The Syracuse Starks topped the Monongahela Monsters, 2-1, in USSL Triple A action at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Syracuse pitcher Jorge Torres. The winning pitcher was Torres, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3. Getting the save was Richello Dosono, his 2nd.
It could have been a different outcome for Syracuse, had it not been for Javier Seco, the slugging first baseman . Seco contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Syracuse up, 2-0.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Monongahela skipper Sancho Tornero.
With the win, Syracuse raised its record to 20-15.
