Starks Snag 9-6 Win

The Forest City Warriors got a superb performance from second baseman Jesse Groves. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Syracuse. The Starks won the game, 9-6. Groves was 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Joel Baxter, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits. Hendrikjan Zweers, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Rafael Trujillo came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Forest City pitcher Lance Mascola, he hit a 0-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Syracuse on top, 7-6.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Trujillo said.
The 'W' lifts Syracuse's record to 17-10.
