A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Forest City Warriors and Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys.
Octávio Obezo was a vital contributor to the 6-2 Forest City victory over Syracuse. The Warriors right fielder went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Shoichi Iwata earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 6 walks and 4 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
Scott Bissonnette tagged a home run off Stuart Chase in the bottom of the fourth. His 3-run blast put the Warriors on top, 5-2. In all, Bissonnette had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
Obezo told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
The first-place Warriors have a record of 15-8.
