Squirrel Monkeys Take Down Warriors, 9-8
Spencer Powell left his imprint on the 9-8 Syracuse win against the Forest City Warriors. Powell went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Juan González picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-2. Lance Mascola was tagged with the loss. The 7th-place Squirrel Monkeys now have a win-loss record of 10-12.

Syracuse used the timely hitting of Tomás Sánchez to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 9-8. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.

"We came out aggressive," said Squirrel Monkeys manager Jorge Villanueva. "We came out swinging the bats."
