Blitzkrieg Win at Hartford, 7-5
|
The Blitzkrieg grabbed a win, 7-5, at Pride Park, overcoming a fine effort from Hartford pitcher César Cruz. Cruz went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Steve Sanford, the winner, goes to 2-2. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 6 innings. Jim Hicks closed the door for Port Huron, picking up his 4th save of the year.
Port Huron used the bat of Ralph Titus to capture the win. The third baseman jacked a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Blitzkrieg ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Titus. "And not try to do too much."
The Pride, now 7-12, continue their sluggish start.
