Starks Get One-Run Win at Syracuse
Syracuse and Syracuse duked it out and the Starks came out victorious.

The Syracuse Starks faced a tough opponent in Syracuse pitcher William Averett, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Zoo in Syracuse by a final score of 7-6. Averett went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Syracuse reliever Yoichibei Maekawa picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Juan González shouldered the loss. The save went to Richello Dosono, his 1st this season.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder José Villa came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Syracuse pitcher Juan González, he hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Syracuse on top, 7-6.

"Enjoyed this one," Villa told the Syracuse News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

The defeat makes Syracuse 8-9.
