Monongahela Gets 4-2 Road Win
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys got a superb performance from pitcher Richard Arnie, but the Monongahela Monsters still won the game, 4-2. Arnie threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Brian Thomas, the winner, goes to 2-1. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Félix González recorded the save, his 5th.
Monongahela relied on the hitting of Bob Giles to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Monsters on top, 4-1. For the game, Giles had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I thought we played a nice game," Giles told the Monongahela News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
Monongahela, now 8-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.
